Catching Up with the Campbells: Life Update – Moving to College Station Pt. 2

So after getting somewhat settled in the townhouse in College Station, we spent our days trying to get acclimated and also praying a lot for our house in Friendswood to sell! The following is the rest of the month of September and October, and actually into November, just so you can peak into our moving experience and our first few days back in Aggieland. 🙂 Again, marathon post so hang in there haha!

Spent some evenings checking in on the new house, the boys LOVE the huge backyard!
We spent a decent amount of time at playgrounds because being in the little townhouse made our kids and dog cray cray haha…
Daddy had a couple of work trips, so we all piled into one of the queen beds and tried to sleep!
Jude and I started figuring out this one on one business, and filled it with trips to Hobby Lobby, Starbucks mini scones and lots of Planes hehe.
Spent some time catching up with sweet friends here.
Had to get acquainted with the H-E-B here! Anyone else’s kids basically feel like they are at a buffet when you go to the grocery store???
Catching up with more friends!
There was an isolated event of helping Mommy with the laundry… and they made it seem like it was the coolest thing they had ever done hahaha…
My poor parents began the cleaning out aa gutting process. My sister and I went to visit them one weekend… so sad to see your childhood home demolished like that. 😦
There has been so much progress at this point, my parents have worked HARD getting this place cleaned up, and thankfully have had some helpers to get them here.
In the middle of September after the storm, we ended up selling our house to an older couple who lost their home in the flooding. We made a countdown to our move date… mainly because he was asking me every day when we would be moving, and also because I was going a little insane at this place haha!
We met Daddy for lunch, because we CAN do this now!!!!! Whoo hoo!
We headed back down to Houston to meet my parents at our house one more time, and met my cousins and their sweet kids for lunch on the way!
Pedicures with my Mama!
Celebrated my sister’s birthday too while we were there!
Back to College Station for school and our final walk through on our house! Love these two sweet brothers!
And back to Friendswood (Yes we are all completed exhausted at this point and the kids have no idea what we are doing or where we are supposed to be haha…) for movers to pack up the house so we could get out! Last meal!
Telling our sweet neighbors bye… so hard! They are irreplaceable!
Moving Day!
Last look! 😦
We met with our buyers before heading up to College Station, then drove up, dropped off the kids and closed! This is our realtor and builder!
My sweet friend Erica GRACIOUSLY met our movers at our new house, because we had no time in-between driving and closing, and she directed them on where to put all of our stuff (because she is one of the few people who know how I like things haha and left this sweet goody basket for us! She loaded up all the toilet paper holders (SO smart y’all!), helped put sheets on our beds and her hubby (also our realtor) brought us a huge dinner from Lupe Tortilla! I mean, what a welcome!
And then the unpacking commenced!
Jacob’s mama came up and helped so much with the unpacking, couldn’t thank her enough for helping us get such a huge part done so quickly.
And guess who’s birthday it was the weekend we moved in?!?!
Sweet Jacey turned SEVEN!
Picnic dinner on the floor!
My little builder man helping me out!
And my other little helper man helping me break in the kitchen with a batch of brownies. 🙂
My parents came up the following weekend and helped with more unpacking and brought the kids these cute Halloween buckets!
Getting to know new sweet friends at our old/new church! Last time we were here, we were college students!
And in the middle of unpacking, also trying to get ready for the holidays!
Lots of Astros watching, so proud of them for winning the world series!
Headed down to Katy one weekend to celebrate their little cousin’s first birthday!

AND in the middle of ALL of this….

We’re having another baby! We are CRAY CRAY!
And it’s ANOTHER BOY! Of course!!!

Fun Halloween party at school!
And then Batman and would be Dusty airplane pilot go Trick-or-Treating!

Daddy had to head out for back to back work trips so we were the three musketeers for a couple of week! Calls for a night of pizza and Dusty!
And we are doing lots of walking over here and carb counting because I am having the pleasure of round two of gestational diabetes. #ugh My pancreas just apparently poops out during pregnancy.
And of course 4-5 days after Halloween, this little guy thinks it would be fun to dress up. He always does things his own way and in his own time. 🙂
Back to Houston for our 20 week scan! Got to see this sweet boy’s face! And praise God that all is healthy and looking good so far!
Hit the zoo before heading back home!

So that leaves us here, trying to figure out our new place here and work out a new routine of sorts. Doing lots of bike riding and just enjoying our time together.

I’ll leave you with this verse below. I read this in my Bible App this week and it hit my face like a ton of bricks. If you would have asked me last year where we would be at this point in time, I would of said in Friendswood of course, because we had plans to stay there long term. It never felt exactly right though to me, and I could never place my finger on it or understand what the solution would be to our lack of family time and Jacob’s hour and 15-20 minute commute each way… but we prayed about it, because we knew things needed to be better for our family. Jacob looked for jobs in Houston for over a year, and we continued to just feel kind of stuck. Feeling like we needed a change but having no idea what to do or feeling like, could we really make a change and take a plunge. When this job in College Station popped up out of no where, it was almost too good to be true and really shook us up a little and we were unsure if it was stable and something we could count on. Someone told us, “You know, a lot of people pray for things in their lives, but then they are unsure or afraid to take advantage of the opportunities to have their prayers answered because they are scared of one thing or another.” And when I heard those words, I knew for sure this is what we were meant to do at this point in our lives. Who knows how long we will be here, hopefully for a little while at least because moving is exhausting haha… but as long as we are here, we will be so ever thankful for our time together and the opportunity to grow as a family and slow down and live our lives together rather than rushing past each other during the day. God has plans for His children, things that our eyes have never seen and our minds have never even considered.

Catching Up with the Campbells: Life update – Moving to College Station Pt. 1

I’ve been a tad M.I.A. lately… mainly because over the last 4-5 months we have been in transition MOVING! And it has been CRAY CRAY! Jacob got a job offer for a private company in College Station, TX, and while we were SO incredibly sad to leave our friends and family, it has been such a blessing for us. He is home so much more, we eat dinner together every night, a five minute commute vs. an hour and 20 min… we are so much more at peace here and having the opportunity to catch up with some of our friends we haven’t been close to since we were in college. So I thought it was appropriate to do a couple of “Catching Up with the Campbells” posts so you can kind of see what we’ve been up to over this past summer and fall. And just to warn you… these posts are going to be looooonnng… we’ve been some busy people lately!

So this whole summer we were very back and forth between Friendswood and College Station, trying to find a house and then picking out interior features for it, and then also celebrating birthdays for Jackson and my mom in June, me in July and also our TENTH anniversary… Jacob also got kidney stones that week of our anniversary, my cousin passed away suddenly and tragically and I was so sad I couldn’t attend his funeral… we had swim lessons for Jackson for two weeks that was a tad torturous, and in the middle of all of it we were getting our house ready to sell and then preparing for showings… which if you have ever tried to do with toddlers, you know it is just about the worst game you can play with them hehe… Jackson had oral surgery to take care of some cavities in July, we celebrated the fourth of July in there too and went to an Astros game and tried to hit up all of our favorite Houston “things to do” while we were still in town. We visited my parents, I met up with my former teaching gals, traded in our car and had a fabulous going away party. WHEW! And that was just June, July and August haha!!!!

This was SO bittersweet, we really thought we would be here for 20 plus years haha!
My big helper man.

Celebrated my 32nd birthday with a friend of mine! Sleepover downtown, massages, a facial and brunch! Yes please!
My sweet mama watched my kiddos and got me a mini bundt cake haha! (Also Jackson’s face bahaha…)
Dinner out with my original Campbell boy 😉
And back to College Station to pick out fixtures hehe…
Took the boys to an Astros’ game! Of course FOX came along!

Went down to Kemah to ride the train and go to the Aquarium, had lunch at Tookies after! Such yummy burgers!
Met up with my mom at the Houston Museum of Natural Science!
Then spent a day in Galveston at the beach!
Jude wasn’t too crazy about the sand and water that day!
Jacob and I spent the night down in Galveston for our anniversary! Sadly our ten year trip to Cabo got canceled because of our move! BOO!
I mean you have to try everything right???
So we ate a lot down there haha…
Back to the beach!
Spent some days at the splash pad!
Took a trip down to the Galveston Train Museum! My boys are obsessed with this place!

Spent a day at Nasa with Jacob’s family! Love this place too! Can you tell I used to be a science teacher??? HAH!

Speaking of Science teachers… met up with this fine ladies for lunch one day! Love them so much!
Y’all.. MORE cousins!
Sweet going away party!

We love and miss our Houston friends so much!
Fam bam pic!
And another trip to College Station during the week with Jacob! He started commuting back and forth for the work week so we went with him a few days!

Then September hit… my last living grandmother passed away the week before we were supposed to move up to College Station, so we traveled to Vidor to celebrate my Maw-Maw’s life and death, and then came back to Friendswood just in time for Hurricane Harvey to wreck the entire Texas coast. Some of my best friends lost their home, my parents had six feet of water in their home… and with so much to process in such a short amount of time, we pushed our move off another week. We sadly left the following weekend to move into a townhouse that Jacob’s company owned, for us to use in kind of a transitional period while we waited for our house to sell and for our new house to be finished. We moved up just in time for Jackson to start his Pre-School, and he did so well with it, especially considering everything that little guy had just been through and witnessed. He was so nervous going and I was so proud of him for being so brave. So the following pictures are from the month of September. I told you we have been busy! 🙂

On our way to Grandma’s House!
My cousin DeWanna and I at the visitation, haven’t seen her in years!
It’s always fun playing games on Pa-Pa’s iPad 🙂
These kind of things never get easy…
I can’t even remember the last time we were all together. It was so good seeing every again, and of course it would be Maw-Maw bringing us all back to one spot for a moment.
She has brought the BEST banana pudding for each of my grandparent’s passings… I’ve known her my whole life and she is absolutely one of the sweetest ladies ever.
This sweet lady lived a long life, dedicated to her family, and she will be missed.
Our neighborhood after the second night of rain…
Just would not stop raining!
Playing in the garage! Desperate times y’all haha!
Took a walk around the neighborhood, it was so windy!
Because what else do you do when you have been cooped up for days?!
Waited in line for groceries with my neighbor! We were cracking up because we dressed the same that morning haha…
So after the storm went through Houston, it bounced back and up East to my parent’s part of the state… they had to evacuate and be picked up by a boat.
My sister and brother-in-law had stayed overnight after the funeral and kind of ended up getting stuck there for the storm.
I just cried my eyes out when my sister sent me this picture… this has been such a hard thing for them this year.
I-10! So crazy!

My parent’s house at some point… they ended up with around 6 feet of water in their home. Pretty much lost everything.
My parents had evacuated to my Aunt’s house in Houston, so we met them for dinner on the way up to College Station. I don’t know that I have ever been more grateful and happy to see their faces as I was that night.
And then school started! He is so ready!
Jackson and his teacher! She is just the sweetest!
Spending his first day as an only child with Mommy!
First day of school reward!
A look at our townhouse neighborhood.

Whew! So serious update here! If you made it to the end, I think you deserve a trophy… or at least a cookie. I’ll be following up with Part 2 once I can get around to it!
